The Greece crisis

Greece, the weak link in the euro zone, is inching nearer to defaulting on its debt. The country has been in a long clash with its European creditors on the terms of a multibillion-dollar bailout. If the country goes bankrupt or decides to leave the 19-nation euro zone, the situation could create instability in the region and echo around the globe. Since Greece’s debt crisis began in 2010, most international banks and foreign investors have sold their Greek bonds and other holdings, so they are no longer vulnerable to what happens in Greece. And in the meantime, the other crisis countries in the euro zone, like Portugal, Ireland and Spain, have taken steps to overhaul their economies and are much less vulnerable to market infection than they were a few years ago.

Greece became the epicentre of Europe’s debt crisis after Wall Street implosion in 2008. With global financial markets still whirling, Greece announced in October 2009 that it had been understating its deficit figures for years, raising alarms about the soundness of Greek finances.
Suddenly, Greece was shut out from borrowing in the financial markets. By the spring of 2010, it was deviating toward bankruptcy, which threatened to set off a new financial crisis.
To avoid calamity, the so-called troika — the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank and the European Commission — issued the first of two international bailouts for Greece, which would eventually total more than 240 billion Euros, or about $264 billion at today’s exchange rates.
The bailouts came with conditions. Lenders levied harsh austerity terms, requiring deep budget cuts and head-long tax increases. They also required Greece to revamp its economy by systematize the government, ending tax evasion and making Greece an easier place to do business.
Sunday’s referendum will test whether Greek citizens want to stay in the euro zone. New elections could also be held if Greece’s financial situation worsens. Or Greece could test the willingness of Russia or China to help should talks with Europe stumble.

Acne - our biggest problem

Its pimple pimple everywhere. On my cheeks, my forehead, my nose, it has left no space on my face empty. Pimples behave like uncalled for visitors or relatives, who come to your place without giving notice and stay on till you are fed up and don’t know when and how they will proceed for their place. Pimples are similar. They will come exactly when you have some event or occasion to attend, stay there and leave a mark, as if they want me to remember them my whole life.

My skin is pretty oily, and I do whatever to keep it clean and non-greasy, it would not budge and keep my skin like a chip-chip sweet food. Why me?? Oh God!! But no. It’s not only me. There are hundreds of girls out there, and boys too, who have got the same problem as me.
I have read many a times on the internet that this happens when you reach an age of puberty, when you have hormonal changes in your body, and then acne breaks out frequently. But why do they have to stay so long???? My pimples keep coming and going, as if it is their place where they do whatever they want to do man J

Whatever cream I use or try to use, they break me out. Even company’s claims of non-oily and non-greasy products do not work. L . My skin gets dry during winters, and when I try moisturising it with a mild moisturiser, it again breaks out acnes on my face. I had once got acne vulgaris. Sounds dangerous, Right? I got tiny red pimples all around my face, making my face look like a ploughed field. I visited a dermatologist and she suggested a cream, which had quite good effect till I was using it. After I stopped using the cream, I was again back to ground zero.

I know this is a problem with many of us and you all will agree with me, but finding solutions to our problems is the sole responsibility of our own selves. So, I started researching on the causes of these head-ache causing acne and I found out that eating too much of oily food, roaming in open sunlight without protection, not keeping face clean and not washing it regularly with a proper cleanser, not including vegetables in meals, and lack of exercising, are all causes of an acne prone skin. Hence, I decided to change all these bad habits and have started including green veggies in my diet. I, now, exercise daily and try keeping my skin clear of dirt and oil my washing my face with mild cleansers at-least twice a day. I also drink lots of water and try having Green tea because it is found to be very helpful in skin rejuvenation. I avoid direct sun-light and try cleaning my face after I have been in dirt and dust outside my home.

And what I have found out to be the result of the change in my life-style is great. I have less acne now, one or two breakouts, rarely. My skin feels fresh and awesome without these acne. I hope people do change their lifestyles for the betterment of their own and get a glowing healthy skin.

Please do visit the following sites for more information on acnes and their solution.

We Condemn the cartoon by Charlie Hebdo

If you are creative, that doesn't mean you will make anything you wish. If you are provided with Freedom of Expression, you should not be hurting other people's sentiments. If you are an atheist, that does not mean no one believes in God. You should have religious tolerance in yourself. One should respect every person's beliefs and rituals.

Have you ever seen HIM, whose cartoon you have shamelessly carved out? Did anyone show you his photograph, or ever described to you how HE used to look like?

Why the hell do you people choose only HIM to show your creativity on? Why do you provoke HIS followers by making fun of HIM?

Who has given you the right to make fun of HIM, who has billions and billions of followers all around the world?

Ofcourse, I do not approve of the attacks that were done on you all, because HE never taught us to be violent, but they were such ardent followers of HIS, that they went against HIS teachings.

WE WANT PEACE. And that is only possible when people will start minding their own business, will start learning to RESPECT other people's BELIEFS and RELIGION.

I request you to stop creating such non-sense and focus on other important things in life. There is so much else that you can show your creativity on. HE has given us such a beautiful place called EARTH, the nature, the universe. Why are you interested in carving out the CREATOR, when HE has provided you with his CREATION.

I hope people start understanding their right to freedom well and act accordingly.

I hope HE shows the right direction to all. AAMEEN.

Human Beings v/s. Being Human

In an ancient temple, a number of pigeons were living for quite some time in the top of the Gopuram (as they normally prefer elevated or high structures). It so happened that the temple management decided to renovate the temple and do Kumbha Abhishekam.

The moment the work began, the pigeons had no other choice but to relocate to a different place. They found a Church nearby and decided to settle down there. As there were already some pigeons who were in the Church, the newcomers managed to find places in between, wherever they could.

It so happened that since Christmas was nearing, the Church management decided to paint the Church. The new ones along with the earlier ones now had to move out and look for another place. They were fortunate to find a place in a Mosque nearby and similarly managed to find places for them to live along with the existing ones there.

The Mosque also, due to impending Ramzan decided to carry out some repair works. As, by this time, the temple work and the Abhishekam was over, all of them came back to the same temple.

One day, when the pigeons were sitting on the top and relaxing, they were watching some communal clashes going on below, not very far away from the temple.

A baby pigeon asked her mother, "Who are these people? "

The mother replied, "Human beings."

The baby asked, "But why are they fighting with each other?"

The mother said "The human beings going to temple are called 'Hindus', the people going to Church are called 'Christians' and the people going to Mosque are called 'Muslims'.

The Baby pigeon asked, "Why is it so? Look, when we were in the Temple, we were called Pigeons; when we were in the Church, we were called Pigeons and when we were in the Mosque, we were called Pigeons. Similarly, they should be called just 'Human beings' wherever they go".

Look at the wonderful reply the Mother gave -

"You, I and our Pigeon friends have understood this long ago and that’s why we are living here in a highly elevated place peacefully. These human beings are yet to understand that and hence they are living below us and fighting and killing each other".

Use Social Influencers to promote your Brand

Today, no business can afford to ignore presence on social network. Billions of peoples are on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, Tumblr, blogs etc. These users are spending lot more time on these platforms talking about brands, product, services, their likes, dislikes. Thus, Social network allows you to reach out to large base of potential customers without spending exorbitant amounts of money on advertising. Using social media and social networking is a lot cheaper than traditional marketing and advertising methods. No wonder, now significant portion of the advertisement money is being spent on social networks.

How to get started?
The question remains that how to advertise on social network such as facebook, Twitter etc. or what is the best social network platform to advertise on?
There are many ways a company can reach its users on social networks. One of the most common methods is to create a company page and engage current customers. However, on its own, a company page or profile has limited reach in terms of user base. Also, it is very time consuming for companies to build audience on its own. One may use facebook ads or sponsored tweets to promote their company page but these are quite expensive and do not target the right audience.
The best way is to use Social Influencers who can promote your brand organically to their followers. Social Influencers are people who have huge and active followers. This may be someone who is considered an expert in a certain area, or who happens to be very popular. Sachin Tendulkar is an example of someone with far-reaching impact, since one recommendation from him can get millions of people to learn more about a product or service. However, finding them individually on your own and as per your requirement is a tedious task.

How to find them?

Fromote.com an online platform that has large number of verified social influencers from various fields and large fan following. Influencers such as celebrities, experts, bloggers, etc who are ready to do marketing campaign in cost effective manner can be easily found on fromote.  Brands can browse their profile & links of their social media profiles and hire them, as per their requirements. Alternatively, brands can post an advertisement campaign on Fromote.com to get bids from various influencers, and choose them as per their target segment. Fromote also helps brands to customize social marketing campaign and to work with famous celebrities.

Bring Back The Touch

It is summer outside, and Mr. Abhinav Sinha, a 50 year old man, working as a clerk in a Government insurance company is about to leave for his office. It is 9 am in the morning, and he is rushing to leave, thinking of the crowd he is going to encounter in the Mumbai locals. He was about to leave, and a voice comes from behind “please take your tiffin”, Mrs. Sinha says. “Thank You” says Mr. Sinha, smilingly, and leaves. Mrs. Sinha packs the tiffin for their son Ajay (20) and daughter Ananya (22). Ananya is studying Science, and aspires to become a doctor, and Ajay aspires to be a civil engineer some day.

Both, Mr. and Mrs. Sinha, have been working hard for their children’s education. Mr. Sinha works over-time in his office to earn more, and Mrs. Sinha stitches clothes for people to earn some extra income, so that she contributes to her husband’s efforts. In between their children’s happiness and career, somewhere in between, the couple has lost their emotions for each other. Their only aim now is their children’s career, to get them married, to give them a secured future ahead.
Both of them have forgotten what love is. There is love between them, but it is lost amid their responsibilities for their children. Both of them realise, that they need to acknowledge each other, love each other, but they have no time for it.

Time has passed by. It is December 25, Christmas day. Mr. Sinha has an off day and both the children are at home. They ask their mother to cook something special for dinner as everybody is at home and they will have their dinner all together. The mother is excited and cooks delicious meal for her family. It is 8 pm and some of Sinha’s relatives come to their place for a visit. Mrs. Sinha is surprised to see them visit suddenly. Everybody is in the main room, and the children come from the kitchen with a sweet “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” cake. Mr. Sinha presents her wife with a cute pendant set which fills Mrs. Sinha’s eyes with tears.

Everybody joins in for the birthday celebrations, which Mrs. Sinha herself had forgotten, and dinner resumes. Everyone is gone and Mr. and Mrs. Sinha are lying on their bed in their room. Mr. Sinha asks her wife about the gift he gave him, and Mrs. Sinha fills with shyness and a little pride for her husband. Mrs. Sinha, as a return gift, packs a cheek kiss on his husband’s cheeks, showing her way of appreciation for the gift she received. This was their moment of #BringBackTheTouch.

Toilet for Babli

India is considered to be backwards not only in terms of financial inequality and poverty, but also due to the filthy habits of its citizens. One such habit is defecating in the open. About 72.2% of the population of India lives in some 638,000 villages and the rest 27.8% in about 5,480 towns and urban agglomerations. It is not only that people living in rural defecate in open, poor people living in urban area, too, defecate in open. One can see them on the railway tracks, open grounds, near garbage dumps. This is one of the riskiest things to do, especially for the poor kids. As they are under-nutrition, they are more prone to infectious diseases.

Babli, a girl child, living in North India, says she goes to defecate in open grounds during darkness and in the morning, barely during sunrise, she goes to the fields or nearby railway tracks. She has been in the Government hospital from the past one month, and doctors say that she is malnourished and has contracted a chronic disease that prevents the body from absorbing calories and nutrients.
There has been a rape and murder in Uttar Pradesh, when 2 girls were out for defecating in the open. So this issue not only is about one’s health, but also about safety and security of oneself.
It has become an issue of women’s safety more than health. Women have been molested while they were trying to go for open defecation, making it a serious issue for rural households to build a toilet for their females in the vicinity.

This is an issue so big, that even the Prime Minister has to talk about it on the national platform. The Prime Minister says “Build more toilets than temples”.
There have been many efforts from past Governments too, to improve the condition of sanitation in the rural areas as well as the urban areas. There have been many NGO’s who have been working towards building proper sanitation and educating the rural people towards hygiene. The United Nations has also been working towards the same putting in huge sums of money, for building toilets in rural India, providing sanitation to rural people, educating them about the health hazards that can worsen due to open defecation, and help in building and use of toilets.

We hope that everyone’s efforts pay well and that India comes out and arise of this problem and we focus on some other more important issues which lay in India. For the time being, come and “Click” on this link and help India get “Free of Open Defecation”.

You can bring about the change in the lives of millions of kids, thereby showing your support for the Domex Initiative. All you need to do is “click” on the “Contribute Tab” on www.domex.in and Domex will contribute Rs.5 on your behalf to eradicate open defecation, thereby helping kids like Babli live a dignified life.

WOMEN IN ISLAM – THEIR ROLE IN ISLAMIC FINANCE

INTRODUCTION
Women’s status in Islam is one of the most controversial and serious issues of our time, not only among the Muslim women and men but also amongst the Non-Muslims. In many societies, a woman is still regarded as a second-class citizen and deprived of various basic rights enjoyed by the male population. The West has often regarded Islamic women as being backward in a male-dominated world, whereas Islam was the first religion formally to grant the women a status never known before.

WOMEN AS MENTIONED IN THE QUR’AN
The Holy Qur’an contains hundreds of teachings, which apply both to men and women alike. The moral, spiritual and economic equality of men and women as propagated by Islam is unquestionable. The specific verses of the Holy Quran, which address themselves to men or women, deal with either their physical differences or the role they each have to play in safeguarding the morals of the society Islam conceives.

The Holy Quran emphasizes that God in His perfect wisdom has created all species in pairs, and so men and women have been created of the same species;

"O Mankind, keep your duty to your Lord who created you from a single soul and from it created its mate (of same kind) and from them twain has spread a multitude of men and women..."... [Quran 4:1]

The Holy Qur’an has named a Surah after a woman (Surah Maryam), and one of the Surah is totally dedicated to women (Surah An-Nisa).

“O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], and from them both He created many men and women and fear Allah through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allah is Ever an All-Watcher over you...” {Surah An-Nisa}
“There is a share for men and a share for women from what is left by parents and those nearest related, whether, the property be small or large - a legal share.” {Surah An-Nisa}

WOMEN AS A MOTHER DESCRIBED IN THE HOLY QUR’AN
Islam assigns a position of great honour to a mother. The love, devotion and tenderness due to parents, and especially to the mother, are repeatedly stressed in the Holy Quran:
“We have enjoined on man benevolence towards his parents.” [Quran 29:9]
“We have enjoined upon man concerning his parents: Be grateful to Me and to thy parents; unto Me is the final return. His mother bears him in travail after travail and his weaning takes two years.” (31:15).

ECONOMIC POSITION OF WOMEN IN ISLAM
In Islam the independent economic position of woman has been established since the very beginning. Mention has been made of the obligation of the husband to make a settlement on the wife, in proportion to his means, at the time of marriage. This settlement is called dower (Mehr)

“And give to the women (whom you marry) their Mehr (obligatory bridal money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage) with a good heart, but if they, of their own good pleasure, remit any part of it to you, take it, and enjoy it without fear of any harm (as Allah has made it lawful).” [Surah An-Nisa]

A married woman who possesses means of her own may and in most cases does, contribute a portion or the whole of her independent means towards the upkeep of the household, but is under no obligation to do so. The upkeep of the household is the entire  responsibility of the husband; even when the wife is in her own right better off than her husband.

This is well illustrated by the following incident. The Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, on one occasion adviced women to spend in charity out of their own means also. Thereafter two women, both bearing the name of Zainab, one of them the wife of the well known companion Abdullah bin Masood, came to him and told him that their respective husbands were men of straitened means, but that they in their own rights were comparatively better off. Would it be an act of spiritual merit if they were to assist their husbands out of their own means? The Holy Prophet assured them their spending on their husbands would be doubly meritorious, as it would rank both as charity and as graciousness.

The Holy Quran admonishes:
“Covet not that whereby Allah has made some of you excel others. Men shall have a portion of that which they earn and women shall have a portion of that which they earn. Ask Allah alone of His bounty. Surely Allah has perfect knowledge of all things.” (4:33).

There is no decree in Islam which forbids woman from seeking employment whenever there is a necessity for it, especially in positions which fit her nature and in which society needs her most, for example, nursing, teaching, medicine etc. Moreover, there is no restriction on benefitting from a woman’s exceptional talent in any field.

Khadijah bin Khuwaylid (the first wife of Prophet Muhammad – peace be upon him) was also a trader, taking ahead her father’s business. Her policy was to employ hard working, honest and distinguished managers to deal on her behalf as a lot depended on the integrity of the employees who travelled far and wide on her behalf. She exported her goods to far away markets like Syria, and her managers bought goods from those markets to be sold at home.
The history of women in Islamic trade and finance is not adequately written. At first sight, Muslim women's stories (and the general interest in them) seem to focus on family matters like marriage, divorce and children.

Women in Twenty-first Century Islam
The average spectator from Western countries might consider women in the Muslim world as introverted and restricted to their homes by their male partners. In fact real life is different, particularly markedly in the last few decades. Women in Islamic countries are now in charge of large corporations, are ministers (Mrs. Sayeeda Warsy, U.K), and Prime ministers (Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh) and have reached top jobs and are imposing success on their own terms. As HE Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan said on the subject, "The landscape is starting to change".

Women are now business owners in Jordan, Bahrain, Lebanon, Tunisia, India, Pakistan, The UAE, etc. They are finding their own place in the business and community and creating opportunities for themselves and their participation in business is on an upward trend. Making a significant contribution in the booming economies, women's business networks have grown rapidly across the region.

Salma Hareb, CEO, Jebel Ali Free Zone and Economic Zones World, said, "Women in the UAE are as much part of the corporate world as anywhere else on the globe. This signals a significant change in a society where women's roles used to be marked differently by our social customs earlier. Being an entrepreneur is about more than just starting a business or two - it is about having the attitude and the drive to succeed in business. Businesswomen in the Middle East are doing just that. We observe women as corporate heads occupying various decision-making positions in the public as well as the private sectors."

Recent statistics show that women in the Gulf region represent 35% of the total Arab workforce. The UAE alone is home to more than 11,000 women entrepreneurs managing investments worth more than $4 billion. Women hold 30 per cent of management positions in finance, 32 per cent of the transactions of the financial and banking sector is done by women, 20 per cent of management jobs in financial institutions are held by Women.

A significant contribution by women to Islamic finance and to financial institutions has been noticeable in Malaysia, as well as in global finance. Women in Islamic financing are much more able to follow the principals of Shariah than are men because their main concerns are to details and efficiency; they are less likely to engage in speculative or risk-taking behaviour and the sale of financial assets. Women have become a powerful force in the economy, and this success should be recognized. Although there are still obstacles to overcome, there are a number of women who have reached the highest positions in financial institutions.
Women are researching, educating themselves and taking more control of their finances. When it comes to investing, women make fewer mistakes, are more risk averse and more consistent during volatile market times. These positive investment tendencies are necessary when it is considered that women face unique challenges and pressures that make it essential for them to be proactive with their investments.

Here, we list some of the prominent names of Muslim Women in the Islamic Finance industry

Summary
The history of Muslims is rich with women of great achievements in all walks of life from as early as the seventh century (A.D.). It is impossible for anyone to justify any mistreatment of women by any decree of rule embodied in the Islamic law, nor could anyone cancel or reduce the legal rights of women given in Islamic Law. It is also worthwhile to state that the status which women have achieved in the present era is due to her hard-work and dedication towards achieving something for their future.

Women in Islamic financing are much more able to follow the principals of Shariah than men because of their tunnel vision on details and efficiency; they are less likely to engage in speculative or risk-taking and the sale of financial assets; they have certain limitations but overall performance is encouraging. One of the main difficulties is that the men do not give them enough opportunity for training, education, top jobs and responsibilities.

If this indicates anything, it would demonstrate the divine origin of the Qur’an and the truthfulness of the message of Islam, which, unlike human philosophies and ideologies, was far from proceeding from its human environment, a message which established such humane principles as neither grew obsolete during the course of time and after these many centuries, nor can become obsolete in the future. After all this is the message of the All-Wise and All-Knowing God whose wisdom and knowledge are far beyond the ultimate in human thought and progress.
