1. 1.The Taj Palace Hotel, Colaba
This place comes to mind first, especially
today as it is the 5th very saddening anniversary of the Mumbai attacks. This hotel is one of
the master pieces ever to created in the history of Indian heritage, of course
there’s also Taj Mahal, but right now we are talking about Mumbai.
2. Gateway of India, Colaba (just opposite the Taj
Palace Hotel)
It was built during the reign of Britishers
in Mumbai. It was built for the entries of Bombay Chancellors of the British
Raj. Now, it is a big tourist attraction for the locals as well as foreigners.
It is also called as the Taj Mahal of Mumbai.

3. Colaba Market, Colaba
It is a place where you find more of
foreign buyers then local. Here you get everything for men and women, ranging
from clothes to jewellery, footwears, bags, sunglasses etc. Here you bargain
and get things at a price that you desire.
4. Fashion Street, Churchgate
As the name suggest, it is a full street
dedicated to fashion. Thousands of college students gang up here to buy stuffs
like cloths, footwears, jewellery, handbags, glasses, funky stuff etc. Here,
the main weapon for you is to bargain hard, or else you fall into the trap of
the stall vendors.
5. Nariman Point
It is the ending point of Mumbai and the
start of the Arabian Sea, as you know Mumbai is a merged land of the seven
islands. It’s a place where you find people jogging, having their dogs take a
walk, you see couples sitting besides the stones, families bring their children
to play here in the open air during the evening time. It can be a dangerous
place during heavy rains.
6. Marine Drive
It is the extension of the Nariman Point
towards Mumbai. Here, people throng to see the sunset during the evening, it is
so much peace here. (you hear only loud horns of the vehicles)
7. Girgaum Chowpatty
It is a beach in the middle of the busy
Mumbai roads where thousands of families visit during the weekends, Famous for
its pavbhaji, Kulfi ice-cream, Cold pani puri and Sharma ji ka paan, you see so
many children enjoying themselves.
8. Juhu Chowpatty, Bandra
It is relatively smaller than the Girgaum
Chowpatty, but the footfalls here is no less than the former. Here, you’ll find
people diving into the sea, nearby of course, and there is so much corn to eat.
There are swings for children and older people too. You’ll enjoy yourself to
the core here.
9. Bandra Bandstand
It is a stretch nearby sea where people
come to visit during the evening time. The main reason people come here is to
watch Bollywood King SRK’s Mannat bungalow. Also nearby is the Galaxy
Apartments, residence of Superstar Salman Khan.
10. Carter Road, Bandra
It is a long walkway along the sea side in
Bandra west. If you are lucky enough, you will find Salman Khan cycling here,
either in the early mornings or late evenings.
11. Linking Road, Bandra
It is the same as Fashion street and Colaba
Market in the South Mumbai. Here, you mostly find girls and women shopping for
their outfits, footwears, jewellery, handbags, and so many funky stuffs. Here,
fashion is at its toll.
12. Haji Ali, Worli
You find peace here. Though it is a holy
place for the Muslim community, you find people visiting the shrine from all
sects and community.
13. Siddhivinayak Temple, Prabhadevi
It is the biggest temple here in Mumbai.
The primary deity here is Lord Ganesha. It became famous visits made by some of
the politicians and bollywood stars. Highest number of footfalls here would be
found on Monday.
14. Mount Mary Church, Bandra
Thousands of Christians visit the church
for Sunday mass. The Mount Mary Church has a famous Feast in the month of
September on the first Sunday after the 8th of September to celebrate
Virgin Mary’s Birthday.
15. Lamington Road, Grant Road
If you are a techno buff, you may be aware
of this place. You will find all types of technology stuff here, be it ready to
be sold electronic products or parts of it. Here you may find various brands
and all sorts of solutions to any of your technological problems.
16. CST Railway station, South Mumbai
If you want to see a huge monument from the
british periods still standing like it was built a year ago, you can come and
visit the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station. Here, you find 7
railway tracks for local trains within Mumbai, (largest within Mumbai), and you
can see the various architectural fine artistry inside. Though, some of the
cruel people tried destroying it, but we didn’t let them do that.
17. Bandra- Worli Sea Link
It is the one of the most expensive project
taken up by the Maharashtra Government. The bridge was open up for public
travelers in 2010. It connects Bandra in the western suburbs of Mumbai to Worli in the south Mumbai. One step ahead
to becoming Shanghai.
18. Dharavi, Sion
One of the largest slums in the world. It
has almost about a millions of people residing here. The informal turnover from
the people working here is estimated to be around US$ 500 million. The major
source of income for the people here is leather industries, textile, pottery
products and also some of the food products. The fame has also come through the
Oscar- nominated movie Slumdog Millionaire.
19. Wankhede stadium, Marine Lines
The stadium, with the seating capacity of
around 45,000 people is a cricket ground famous especially for the Ravi Shastri
match where he had hit 6 sixes in an over. Now, it is famous for the 2011 World
Cup finals where India beat Sri lanka and the recently concluded Sachin Tendulkar’s
last match of his career. Hope to catch up a match some day.
20. Kalbadevi (Bhuleshwar), South Mumbai
It is a congested place in the by-lanes of
south Mumbai which is famous for the textile industry which flourishes here. It
is this place where Dhirubhai Ambani started his textile business from and rose
to become India’s richest business man. It is also famous for the various
temples here which date back to the last century.
21. Mohammed Ali Road, South Mumbai
The place is famous for its non-vegetarian
food mostly during the holy month of Ramzan when the Muslim community fasts for
30 days of the month. People from every sect and community visit this place to
have the delicacies which includes starters, main course, soups, sweets and
much more. Mouth Watering!!!
22. Dadar Market
People visit the place in the wee hours of
the morning, to buy vegetables, and adjacent to this is the Dadar flower
market, which is also house full, where people come to buy flowers for Puja
purpose. Visit the market early morning if you wanna have some veggies.
