Ramzan Eid

It was Ramzan Eid on the 29th of July 2014. Eid is celebrated by Muslims all over the world after observing fasts for 30 days in the month of Ramzan. On the last day of the fast (either 29th or 30th day), after moon sighting, Eid is celebrated the next day by the Muslims.

It is 29th July morning 6 am and I am in my bed, unable to getup after a long tedious working previous night Eid celebration preparations, and my Mom is on my nerves trying to wake me up. Finally I am up and getting to the washroom. I am all ready in my new dress, all decked up in my black anarkali and ready to pray my Eid Namaz. Below our building, are rows and rows of men all in their new kurta pyjamas, for the Eid Namaz. What a view it is. Finally I am done with my Namaz and getting ready to head to my grandmother's home where every men of the house come after their prayers. My granny's home is all full with the men and boys of the home greeting each other and wishing "Eid Mubarak" to one and all.

Everyone sits down for their breakfast in my granny's home (this has been our tradition to have their breakfast on Eid day at my granny's home). The delicious Sheerkurma is served after the sumptuous breakfast is done. Everybody heads back to their respective homes. We are all very happy together wishing Eid Mubarak and praising each other's newly designed dresses.

All the boys and men are off to their beds after being awake the whole previous night. It is the ladies's turn now to head to my granny's home. After getting back from there, we are all into the kitchen for lunch preparations. Everybody is sleeping in the home after the lunch is ready and will only be back to consciousness after 4 pm.

Its 4.30 pm now and we are all praying our Afternoon prayers. After the prayers, everyone sits down for the lunch. After the lunch, we have our tea and get into the Eid mode again as we have some relatives visiting us at home.

Its night now and we are off to my sister in-law's home to wish her "Eid Mubarak". Back to home with no mood to have dinner and I am off to sleep, hating that I will have to be in office the next morning.
